LAX Landside Access Urban

Los Angeles

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is currently engaged in the largest public works project in the history of Los Angeles, effectively expanding the sphere of LAX transportation and operations two miles east to the 405 freeway through their Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP). Multiple projects are underway, each with their own distinct and defined contract area.

Project detail

Given all these independent work areas, combined with the Central Terminal Area (CTA) renovation and expansion projects, planned improvements to Century Boulevard, and new LA Metro stations, urban design takes on an increased level of importance in delivering an exceptional customer experience at LAX through establishing consistency and continuity between major LAMP projects and their surrounding urban context. The firm is leading a landside urban design analysis, in coordination with the Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), that will provide LAWA guidance necessary for a cohesive and unified vision for LAX.
